This time of year can be demanding on our energy and time so, it’s crucial to find ways to rest, relax and rest.
Although it can be challenging to find time to take a break, it’s essential to find ways to decrease your stress levels. Take advantage of the holiday lull, and allow yourself to take a break. When we neglect to reset and refocus, there is a higher risk of burnout.
Here are a few ways for you to rest and recharge so you can move into 2022 feeling your best and ready to take on your goals!
Deep Breathing
Deep breathing is a great way to calm you down almost instantly. Close your eyes and take a big breath for 3 seconds. Feel that breath fill up your lungs and then slowly release all of it for 5 seconds. Do this ten times and release the stress and tension. Feel your mind clear and your body relax.
Practice Visualization
Close your eyes and imagine yourself somewhere that brings you peace or joy, where you can let go of any tension or anxiety you’re feeling. Make sure you picture your place using all your senses – what can you hear, what can you see, what can you smell, what can you taste, what can you see? Let your worries drift away while you’re in your happy place.
Meditate
There is no one way to meditate. It can look or feel however you want and makes you comfortable. It could be breathing, yoga, a quiet place, guided or not. There are many ways to practice meditation, so choose one that works best for you.
Go offline
We all need a break from social media, emails and work from time to time, so one of the best ways to recharge is to go offline. Use those extra hours in the day to read, get outside, move your body or reconnect with friends and family.
Change of scenery
A getaway or day trip can be a great way to clear your head and help you to rest. There are many beautiful places and things to see, especially during the holiday season.
Be okay not knowing what day it is
We are so used to running by a schedule. Our days (even hours) are typically planned out. Use this time to be present at the moment. Don’t worry about what day it is or what time it is.
End your day with reflection
Spend some time before you turn out the light to reflect on your day. The people you saw, the things you did, and how you felt. You can write it down or sit quietly to think.
